HoN (Heroes of Newerth) is based on a Warcraft 3 multi-player map called D.o.t.A. (Defense of the ancients).

HoN is still in beta testing mode, and it requires a beta key to create an account. However there is the odd occasion where they have unlimited sign ups (for example at the beginning of Christmas they had a 72 hour sign up period).

It has the bonus of the fact it has its own engine rather than relying on the WC3 engine which is outdated.

As you can see, the graphics have improved somewhat. There is also a new ranking system that records your kills, deaths, assists, wins, losses, game time and lots more.

As with the GE:S Thread I would like to encourage anyone to create a banner 400x100, as mine was made in 30 seconds.

I'll have to check this game out, although I know how hard it is to start playing competitive DotA because everyone is so good

Well thats whats brilliant about this game, there is now a setting that allows you to play with no stats. so for those first 50 games or so you might want to play to get the hang of absoloutly everything, even if you feed, its not going to make you look bad.

Another thing is, each match that is ranked, gains or loses you this thing called psr. The more psr you get the pro'er you look because it means you havent lost in a while. the more psr you have, the less you gain from winning a match. if you have less and less, the more you will gain from winning or losing.

Because of this a person's psr can almost gauge how good a player is.
